Subpoenas and court orders

This page is for anyone who needs records held on Standpoint Family for a court or other proceeding: attorneys, sheriffs, the courts, and the parties themselves.
Who holds the records
Standpoint Family is operated by TownConnect (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/106250/07, 442 Davidson Street, Vaalwater, Limpopo, 0530.
How to serve a subpoena or court order
How to serve us. Subpoenas, court orders and formal requests for records may be served on TownConnect (Pty) Ltd at 442 Davidson Street, Vaalwater, Limpopo, 0530, or by email to hello@townconnect.co.za with a copy to info@intelligencefoundry.co.za. We accept service by email for the purpose of producing records. Please quote the Standpoint Family case reference if you have it. We will acknowledge receipt within two working days.
The case reference is printed on every court pack and starts with SF-.
What we produce
What we produce. We produce the shared record of a case: messages, receipts, documents, expense and maintenance entries, contact events, requests and the history of changes, with a certificate of record if asked. We do not produce a parent's private notes, private documents or private questions to the Record, or any hidden address or location, unless the subpoena or order specifically requires them. If it does, we produce them to the court, and we tell the parent concerned unless the order prohibits it.
Records are produced in the same form as a court pack, with a manifest listing every document and message with its fingerprint. A certificate of record describes the system; it does not confirm that anything a person typed or uploaded is true (see Certificate of record).
We tell the account holder
Unless the law or the order prohibits it, we tell the account holder before we produce records (Terms, clause 8; Privacy Notice, section 10).
Our fee
Fee. Retrieval, preparation and certification of records under a subpoena or order is charged at R1,500 per request, excluding any court appearance. If a court requires a person from TownConnect (Pty) Ltd to attend, we charge R2,500 per half day plus reasonable travel. Fees are payable by the party who served the subpoena or obtained the order, before the records are released, unless the court directs otherwise.
No VAT is added: TownConnect (Pty) Ltd is not registered for VAT.
How long it takes
Turnaround. We produce records within ten working days of valid service and payment of the fee. Urgent requests are dealt with as fast as we reasonably can; say so when you serve us. Where a matter concerns the safety of a child we will act on the same day on a proper order.
Attending court
Our certificate is designed so that nobody from TownConnect needs to attend. If a court nevertheless requires a person from TownConnect (Pty) Ltd to attend or give evidence, the attendance fee above applies.
For attorneys: you may not need a subpoena
A court pack already contains most of what a subpoena would ask us for. A parent or attorney on a Platinum case, or on a case with an active Court Pack, can build one in the app at any time: a case summary, the children's details, the child expense ledger, the maintenance statement, the care and contact log with handover check-ins, the messages between the parents, every shared document in date order, a manifest of fingerprints, and a description of how the record is kept. A certificate of record signed by a director is available on request for any pack, from the same screen. Because a court pack generated by a party already contains everything described above, a subpoena is often unnecessary. If your client is on the case, ask them to invite you in the attorney role; you then see the shared record, read only, and can build the pack yourself.
